A beautiful double bed, cotton doona cover set, block printed by hand using the traditional floral design in the tones of blue and teal with highlights of garnet red. The set comes in a cotton carry bag, which presents very well as a gift that can be reused as a tote shopping bag.
Aravali, based in the culturally-rich state of Rajasthan, was set up in 1979. Today Aravali promotes traditional products made by local craftspeople.
It works with more artisans, for example, potters and groups producing hand-painted furniture and ornaments and a wide range of textiles. Block-printed fabric comes from two small businesses in Bagru.
Aravali Member story
"Ganesh is a colour master and head of the workshop, which he owns. He gets to work early in the morning (around 7.00am) and first prepares the dyes and colours which are needed for the day. The other workers arrive between 8.30am and 9.00am. After explaining the day's work plan to them, he goes to his plot of land to work the fabric. He owns a scooter and hopes to own a jeep sometime. He wants his children to finish high school and says that his son can decide for himself whether he would like to become a printer or not."
